PROJECT RECORD
Since 2015 the plaza's central air-conditioning system has used an LM-4 secondary coolant for ice-storage cooling, shifting peak electrical load and reducing corrosion and scaling in the water system.
Dalian Henglong Plaza opened in 2011 with a total construction area of 230,000 square metres spread across seven floors, combining retail, dining and leisure.
Since 2015 the entire central air-conditioning system has used an ice-storage design with "Glacier Coolant" as the secondary refrigerating medium. The ice-storage configuration shifts part of the cooling load away from the daytime electricity peak, and the coolant addresses corrosion and scaling that previously affected the water system. The project reports a significant reduction in overall electricity consumption and lower ongoing maintenance cost.
The original project description on the Glacier website refers to the product simply as "Glacier Coolant". The application — ice-storage cooling in a large commercial HVAC system — matches the LM-4 family of water-dilutable secondary coolants, which the catalogue describes for industrial cooling and heating with model-specific options for aluminium compatibility, elevated temperatures and specialised circulation.
